Absolutely fantastic business. My tv blacked out in the summer holidays, which is never good, so I phoned Sheffield tv repairs. Their prompt pick up service was fantastic, and they even offered a free rental whilst my tv was being repaired. They clearly explained what the problem was and the options I had available for repair. When I did pick an option the price was very reasonable and they returned my tv as quick as possible. Would definitely recommend this company to anyone that needs a tv repaired.

We have noticed that many televisions that come into our workshop have been damaged by incorrectly set factory settings. In particular, many LED televisions have had the back lighting system set to 100 percent intensity in the factory. This can damage a LED television and can shorten its life to just over 12 months. We strongly recommend that the back lighting setting is set to around 40 percent or just high enough to form a warm picture in the environment that the TV is used. We can provide a report where we find the back lighting system has been set incorrectly by the factory. In years gone by a TV engineer would set up your TV on delivery to ensure every thing was correctly set up. Sadly with cash and carry these important settings are overlooked, and this can shorten the life of your TV to around a year if not corrected. Once again many thanks for your kind words.

Not only does this fantastic business repair TV's..they repair so much more.
I am a venue stylist who has a Sparkly Dancefloor, which I hire out to Brides & Grooms etc. The night before the Wedding, I laid down the Dancefloor like normal and it came on perfectly fine. I walked across it and it went off. I checked everything and I could not see why this had happened. I found 'sheffieldtvrepairs' but saw they do not just repair TV's but so much more. I gave Kevin a call late in the evening and he was willing to help me that night!! I went up to the workshop in which he tested the dancefloor, went through each panel and tested it, along with the control box - put a new fuse in and saved me from disappointing a Bride the day before her big day. I had never been so panicked and Kevin reassured me. This company really knows what they are doing and are 100% professional in every way. For a company to go out of their way in an evening is very rare. I cannot thank Kevin and his team enough!!

Our team can provide a solution for this. On a service call we can come out and measure your Ariel signal strength using diagnostic equipment that measures electronically signal levels. This can quickly eliminate problems and prove if the problem is within the TV or external to the TV. If the TV has a weak signal it can cause the picture to freeze or turn into tiny squares. bad weather can also affect a poor signal. Often this can be rectified once diagnosed. many thanks for your kind comments.

DENON TUNER REPAIRS

We called these people in desperation when our Denon music center tuner broke (no one could even find us a new tuner) Kevin came and said that they could repair our tuner and took it to their workshop, The part that it needed could only be bought from Japan
so they sent to Japan and found the part. We now have our tuner back and our music center working again. Its great to know that there are still people out there who will go that step further for customer satisfaction.

This can take time and we are often asked why it takes a while to fix electronic items. Diagnosing the problem is one part of the repair. Once we have done the diagnosing the hunt begins for spares. Just about all parts come from overseas one way or another. We are lucky in that our sister company has extensive contacts in China and Asia. We also have great contacts here in the UK. Every TV is different and can contain 3 to 6 main circuit boards and firmware. Each board can have around a hundred components, and if just one component fails that can stop your TV. If the firmware is corrupted that can also stop your TV. Sourcing parts can be a frustrating process for our team. Once sourced we then have to have the part shipped to us and this can often be from overseas. We do keep a large stock of parts for this reason. So many thanks.

TV for my dying Dad

After a power cut and power surge in Ecclesfield my fathers TV blew up . I contacted Kev Riley who gave a same day service and a replacement TV whilst Dads own Tv was in the workshop. Dad has terminal cancer and will be coming home from hospital shortly . Mum decided to keep the replacement TV as it is a much larger screen for Dad to watch his beloved football. If you ever have to lug a 60-kilo plasma television up a flight of stairs it soon becomes apparent how valued our door to door service is. Speaking of plasma televisions we must say that a lot of them are now 7 years old. We fix many of them and they just keep going once fixed. Compared to cheap supermarket televisions that die after 14 months the plasma and LCD televisions are very much time proven. We recommend that you think twice before parting with you old plasma TV or LCD TV. They out last the LED televisions nearly 5 times over. Once fixed they will last a considerable amount more than any modern LED TV. Many people invested over 1000 pound for plasma televisions and some as much as 2000 pound. But we are seeing these same televisions come through the workshop after ten years of service. So it's worth fixing that old plasma TV in your garage. Anthony many thanks.

Problem with Phillips TV

Feel I must take the trouble to write a review to let others know how good this company's service is. The person I dealt with, Kevin Riley, could not have been more helpful or indeed knowledgeable. He diagnosed the problem for free and was honest enough to advise that in his opinion the set could be repaired but in his opinion he did not feel it was economical to do so. He did not charge me a penny despite spending considerable amount of his time on the problem. Very rare indeed these days to find a company that want to help more than they want your money. If you do not turn off power immediately and dry it out with a hair dryer, it damages the circuit board attached to the screen. Exactly same thing happened to me Steve. Eventually the tv degraded from the water however but I'm glad it did as the tv I replaced it with was a bargain and absolutely brilliant.

I had a really great experience with Sheffield TV Repairs - the door to door service was particularly useful as my car had broken down and I live 25 mins out of the city. 
Kiev was personable and knowledgeable and gave me all the confidence that he and the team would do a great job - which they did!

Instead of lasting 5 years or more, it causes damage that self-destructs the back lighting system within 18 months. Sometimes as quickly as 12 months. We have our own theory as to why they do this, however, every TV that goes through our workshop is tested for this and we reduce the back lighting down to around 50 percent. Most clients can not tell the difference, however, this can double the life of the TV. My name is Nathaniel,my wife sara and our two children moved in to the UK from Italy.we could not continue our week end tradition of watching movies together because our LG smart tv suddenly went dark,sound but no pictures.our friends who have been here in the uk for long time suggested that we buy a new tv.but for the internet we googled and got sheffield tv repairs.com,and I was impressed by the reviews I read and the customer service was prolific.they quickly booked an appointment and picked my tv for diagnosis and subsequent repairs.I would want to summarise the ff for any potential client to know:(1)the service was excellent,and we were able to enjoy a movie as family this Sunday evening.because the tv was returned to us properly fixed with a service guaranteed.(2)the cost was economically sound not to even talk of going out of their way to correct some factory settings that could have had long term negative effect on my tv.(3)I am very satisfied with the service they provide.

I called as my TV was broken from water damage. The advice over the phone was brilliant. I was offered a very high quality TV as a replacement at an amazing low price, due to the cost of repair. Was about to buy but checked the TV one more time. Turns out it was working again! I called to let them know I no longer needed the new TV and was given lots of advice from the very knowledgable engineer on how to make sure it stayed working. 

Thanks so much. I will be using this company when I decide to buy a new TV.

I was very happy to have dealt with this company everything as advertised was 100/%. The call to confirm of collection,another to confirm of price than again to confirm of delivery with payment collected at door. Everything was prompt with a very good manner either face to face or via phone. My large tv had no power it took a few weeks but cost me £149 and delivered with a new matching remote.

My TV developed a fault and, due to it being a Saturday afternoon, I struggled to find a local company as they were all closed for the weekend.
I found Sheffield TV repairs on Yell.com and not only did someone answer the call, an engineer was at my door the same afternoon. 
Excellent, Prompt service and very knowledgeable engineer.

Excellent service - light fitting re-wite

One of the lights on my candelabra wasn't working - the wire in that arm to the light fitting had snapped. Phoned Kev & met in McDonalds on Penistone Road & left it with him. Light fitting re-wired & defective connections replaced. Turn round of the job met my needs & at £20 it was a good repair. Cheers

The transformer in my reclining chair burnt. I was given the telephone number of Sheffieldtvrepairs.com by Bardwells of Sheffield. I spoke to Kevin Riley the electronics engineer who arranged to pick up my faulty transformer from my home which he did.After testing the transformer it was found to be beyond repair so Kevin sourced ordered and tested the replacement.A time and pick up were arranged. The chair is back working again thank to the fast efficient service from Kevin and his team.I would recommend this company without hesitation ,once again Thankyou. Martin

I called up, spoke to Kev who was friendly, knowledgable and helpful. He came and collected my TV promptly, gave me a loan TV so my Mrs didn't miss out on all the rubbish that she watches like the kardasians and TOWIE!
Unfortunately, my TV wasn't repairable but Kev waited until I'd got a replacement before bringing mine back and taking his away...... AND because he couldn't fix it he didn't even charge me. What more could you ask for....
Brilliant service, would recommend and use again.

I had got a cd stuck in my cd player and was unable to remove myself, so I contacted Kevin Riley at My electronics.com. I was given a time and date when he could call and collect it. It was repaired and returned to me very quickly and efficiently, he even reinstalled it for me. Kevin was very polite, friendly and helpful and I would definitely recommend to others.

I called up this morning spoke to someone in the phone. Absolutely disgusting customer service. No help whatsoever very rude and arrogant. Definitely would NOT recommend.

''HizeeJ'' called our company on Friday. Due to a strong Pakistani accent, we had to listen very closely to what he was saying. His opening statement included compliments on our feedback. He asked us to estimate on replacing a specific part in his TV. We asked why he thought this specific part was faulty. He then sheepishly admitted that he had his TV in a competitors workshop in Sheffield and they had given him an estimate. We then advised that he should stick with the company he had engaged in the first place as they had gone to a lot of trouble to give him the diagnosis and information. We also explained that it would be unethical, and unprofessional for us to get involved at this stage, and would not be good karma. On that basis, we declined to give him a quote. He then became abusive, irate, and accused us of being a racist company. His ranting included expletive language and threatening behavior. We thanked him for his call and terminated the call then found this feedback.

Had a Sharp LCD TV which just died without warning. The guy was very quick to pick it up, very knowledgeable, and after a few days rang us back to give details of what needed doing, what price it would cost and a realistic time scale when we could expect it back. Very happy with the result.

My 55" LG TV broke (it was my fault as I was messing with the electrics in the house and fried it). It was five years old but a good one in it's time and I didn't want to bin it if it could be economically repaired.

Based on other reviews I called Sheffield TV Repairs and spoke with Ken who was very friendly and took great care with his questions and making sure they knew if they were picking up things like the remote control, or TV brackets/stands etc. They collected the TV, found the issue, found the replacement parts and returned it to me at a cost that was probably 30% of what I would have paid for an equivalent new TV.

Kevin Riley got my email straight away and called me about my tv. He took it in for repair and rung when the fault was found . It is now fixed at an affordable price no charge for looking at it which is good so you get the option before. Friendly guy and now I have my tv back !:) would defo recommend him.

Rare Denon Direct drive turntable.

I had a problem with speed control on this deck which made it inoperable.
I did the usual searchs on the interernet and only found limited information. The most common was that I needed to be changing all the capacitors and transistors on the printed circuit board.
I contacted Bardwells to source these and also asked if they knew anyone who would be able to carry out the work for me.
They gave me the name and phone number for Kevin Riley (Sheffieldtvrepairs) and I duly contacted him. We discussed my problem and then agreed to meet up for him to review the situation.
He agreed to take up the challenge to find out what was wrong and to do what was necessary to correct it.
A few weeks later I have my beloved turntable back and working like a dream. The problem hadn't been the capacitors but another component which Kevins engineers had found to be faulty.
This was sorted and the problem solved.
I am happy to recommend this company for any similar problem.

The gentleman that helped me with my TV was excellent, he came round to my house on the same day of phoning him and was very knowledgable and helpful. He then took it away for repair, gave me a quote of what happened a few days later and it took about a week for it to be fixed as he had to get parts in. Thank You for everything!

I contacted Sheffield TV Repairs and spoke to a gentleman called Kevin to explain the problem I had with my combined DVD/VHS player/recorder. Kevin was really helpful and he fully explained the nominal cost he charged to assess the unit to see if it could be repaired and, if so, what the cost would be and also how long it would take to fix it. He called me after a few days to let me know that the issue had be diagnosed and pinpointed to the ROM drive and what the cost would be to do so. This allowed me to decide if it was economically viable to repair it, which it wasn't, so I have now purchased a refurbished unit to allow us to play both DVD's and VHS tapes. Kevin duly returned the unit to be and I gave him not only the nominal amount he charges but a few pounds on top, as his honesty has saved me spending my money unnecessarily. A big Thank You to Kevin and I will not hesitate to recommend you to my friends and family if they have an electrical problem they need resolving. Mr Day

After living in Canada for 13 years I returned to Sheffield to be with my family. Among other precious items  I brought with me my favorite crystal lamp.When I moved into my apartment I used an adapter plug to plug it into the English socket, and turned it on. The moment I did this there was a loud crack, followed by a fizzling  noise, and the smell of burning, as smoke magically appeared to  come out of the lamp . All the power went off as the puff of smoke  surrounded my precious lamp. I had not realized the Canadian system is 110 volts.

When our spray machine here at Invent clothing Ltd broke down, we called our regular supplier of the machine to send out an electronics technician to sort our the the problem.We were told it would be a week to get someone out. We were also told if the problem was with the PCB it would have to be ordered and would take a week to ten days to arrive.
